Being hosted by Singapore, the 28th SEA Games, the Southeast Asian games. The year 2015 also marks the history of Singapore – the 50th anniversary of nation. To celebrate the very important occasion, the unmatched Opening and Closing Ceremonies are planned, and, to make the very special occasion possible, Tube Gallery, the Thai fashion house is invited to be a part of the creative team as The Costumes and Puppets Designer.
“In fact, this is the 4th time that Singapore has hosted the Games and The 28th SEA Games is especially important for the Singapore people because it marks the 50th anniversary of nation. They want to show the solidarity of the nation and its presence in the ASEAN community. Beatrice Shia, a well known Asian theatre director who chairs The Show Directors for the 28th SEA Games approached us to be a part of her team and responsible for the costumes of all performances, as well as small puppets and giant LED puppets. It is very exciting to work with more than 5,000 people from different walks of life included specialists, professional artists, volunteers and even military officers, as well as leading recording artists of Singapore such as Daphne Khoo, Shigga Shay, Benjamin Kheng and Siow Lee Chin etc.” Saksit Pisalasupongs, one of The Tube Gallery designers and founders said.
“This is another true multi-cultural event not only because of the host country we work with but also the many other talents and specialists from different part of the world. There are more than 100 designs to create for both Opening and Closing Ceremonies. We are very honored as a Thai designer to be a part of this special event.” Phisit Jongnarangsin, the designer and founder of Tube Gallery said.
Tube Gallery, founded in 1999, and now one of the leading Bangkok based designer was awarded “Best Costume Designers Award” from the Musical Play “881”, in 12th Straits Time Life! Theatre Award 2012 by the newspaper Straits Time. Since 2012. Tube Gallery has worked in both theatre-design and fashion on the international scale.
